Wood vs. Metal Rod InstallationWooden rods are the most popular choice to hang your quality custom made outdoor drapes. To begin, start at the top - position your wooden or metal rod in the exact position you want it. To measure for curtain length, decide where you want your curtain to start. At the window height, above or below the molding (if any) and where your outdoor drapes will fall: Do you want total valance length?, to the window sill?, window apron?, even with the floor?, or longer than floor ? Once your decide, you measure 1/4" above the top of the rod down to the point you decided on. Note: Scarves should be longer than the width of the window plus twice the length you want the scarf to swag. Add your desired length if you are going to wrap the scarf around the rod or pole. If you are using clip rings, measure from the bottom of the hooks you will be using. For your outdoor drapery panel width, measure the length of the curtain rod and multiply it by 1 -1/2 to 2 times depending how much slack you want once your outdoor drapes are closed. 1.5 times is the industry standard but if you want your custom outdoor drapes to be a lot fuller once fully opened, we recommend you multiply your total width by 2. | ||||||||
